All OTXGIS™ Hosting packages for MapGuide are housed in a fault tolerant cluster backed by a SAN.  This hosting configuration ensures rapid failover in case of hardware failure.  Unlike some virtualization technologies, all plans include availability guarantees for the specified amount of cpu, disk, and ram.

Each MapGuide package is tailored to support different user loads.  The typical concurrent user load is highly dependant on map authoring and data sources used.  Maps displaying hundreds of layers may support fewer users (1-2 users/vCPU) while maps with a dozen layers may support more users (4-6 users/vCPU).

An enhanced service plan can be purchased which includes virtual machine monitoring and daily automated backups.  These backups are located on disk separate from the SAN.  This ensures valuable information will not be lost in case of complete SAN failure.

The fault tolerant nature of the hosting cluster allows for rapid response to machine failure.  Failure of a vSphere node will cause all virtual machines on that node to immediately restart on another node.  This means your website could be up and running in minutes instead of the hours or days it would take to replace and reimage a physical machine.

Other software packages such as Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 and Oracle® Database 11g can also be accomodated.  VLANs can be set up to facilitate virtual machine clustering.  There is no charge for data transfer between the MapGuide server and other machines within the cluster.
